- The department was establishment in 1971 with the opening of the college and post graduate course added in 2008. The department has a great tradition of legendary personalities and eminent teachers like ex- principal Bhagvanrao Deshmukh. He is well–known litterateur and who remained principal in our college during the academic year 1973 to 1998. The second personality in our department is Smt. Madhuri Nikumbh. She was the principal in our college during the academic year 2001 to 2007.

- Believing ‘there is a hope,’ the department aims at striving for social, economic and political transformation of the rural people around for sustainable development through teaching, research and extension activities
